Raj Airey brings extensive cross-border & cross-cultural operating expertise, backed by a track record in turning around businesses with complex market and leadership challenges. He has run businesses in UK, Belgium, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Spain, and India/Southeast Asia, organizations with 1000 employees, and several manufacturing sites supplying products globally. During his corporate tenure as managing director at Pfizer and Baxter he has held several board roles representing industry interests at AMCHAM, Several Pharma associations, and charitable organizations like the chronic care foundation of India.

With a longstanding passion for sustainable innovation & entrepreneurship, Raj has founded or co-founded several new ventures over the years, with the first one, “Ultimate Expeditions”, formed straight after university, and several healthcare ventures including “WizzCare Home Health Solutions” and “HealthStart”, India’s first healthcare accelerator. Over the last four years, Raj has been a review board member for EIT Health, the world’s largest healthcare acceleration ecosystem created by the EU as PPP between top universities, industry, and healthcare accelerators in Europe. With this and his venture-building roles, he has built an extensive network within Europe of the Medtech hot spots and emerging growth stage companies relevant for the Fund.

Prior to joining Convergence, Raj conducted 18 investments and has realized 6 exits to date with an average gross MOC of 4.6x, a gross IRR of 69% and an average holding period of 3.7 years. He has been a venture partner in previous funds in India and Europe and carried out several advisory roles on healthcare transactions. Other than executing deals, he has advised numerous PE and Corporate M&A teams over the years and lead several commercial DD to closing. Raj holds a graduate degree from the London University and has undergone executive programs at Harvard Business School, INSEAD. Raj is also an Accredited Executive Coach of the International Coaching program.
